Print sizes, finishes and turnaround

At Harvey Norman, you can print your photos either in-store or get them delivered. There are two options: same-day in-store printing or Prolab prints, which are professional-grade quality prints and can be sent to your address. The sizes range from 4x6" to 8x12", so whether you’re choosing to place them in a scrapbook or blow them up to frame in your home, there’s an option to suit you.

All images are printed on professional-quality photography paper, with two sheens to choose from: lustre and gloss.

Lustre is our most popular choice for both framing and general use. It has a subtle sheen and is halfway between matte and gloss.

Gloss, on the other hand, is highly reflective on photographic paper and offers more saturation.

If you’re after something a little different to traditional prints, photo tiles are a fun way to turn your favourite images into wall art.

How do I choose between gloss and lustre finish?

Choosing the right finish depends on where and how your photo will be displayed.

Gloss Finish

  • Delivers vibrant colours, deep blacks, and a highly reflective surface.
  • Ideal for images with rich colours, high contrast, and fine detail.
  • Best suited for albums, portfolios, or framed prints displayed away from direct light.
  • More prone to fingerprints and glare.
  • When framed behind glass, gloss prints can sometimes stick to the glazing over time, particularly in humid conditions.

Lustre Finish

  • Offers a subtle sheen with reduced reflections.
  • Provides excellent colour reproduction while minimising glare and fingerprints.
  • A versatile choice for portraits, wedding photos, and framed wall art.
  • Less likely to stick to glass when framed, making it a popular choice for
    long-term display.
  • Well suited for bright rooms where glare may be an issue.

If your print will be framed behind glass, Lustre is generally the recommended option. If you prefer the high-shine look of Gloss, consider using a mat board or spacer to keep the print from coming into direct contact with the glass.
